Fifty-six years of
stopping radiation.
A-fabco has been family-owned in Gibsonton, Florida since 1970, back when shielding was a young trade. We started in the sales and service of radiographic equipment and accessories, so we learned how these rooms are actually used and how departments move through them before we ever built one. It still shows in the work.

The philosophy
Put the customer first.
Fix what we find in the field.
Our corporate philosophy of always putting the customer first has aided our steady growth, and our attention to customer field problems has allowed us to make many innovations in design and manufacture that made their jobs easier. Our product line is varied, and in many cases the products were dictated by the need, or suggested by the end user.
We do not have and never have had a price list. We prefer the personal contact of a phone call or an email. Give us your facts and we respond with a timely quote, by phone, fax, or email.
Patient safety is the key consideration when we begin any design, and we know the regulations well enough to do more than meet them. But your patients are there once in a while. You and your staff are there every day. We design for both.

Five decades, distilled
What the field taught us.
Every one of these came from an installer, a physicist, or a customer with a problem. We fixed the problem, then we kept the fix.
Clean board is cheaper board.
Lead oxide rubs off in shipping and costs installers hours. So we stack drywall lead-to-lead and face-to-face, and it arrives clean.
Order the frame from the glass supplier.
It removes the division of responsibility when the two do not match, and spares your glazier from nibbling an edge.
Number the brick.
Door brick is fitted, numbered, pulled, palletized, and reloaded in order on site. Nobody guesses on the day the door hangs.
Design around entrapment.
Every sliding neutron door ships with battery backup, and we developed the procedures to open a damaged door within about an hour of arriving.
Deliver it yourself.
In Florida our own trucks and our own people deliver, unload, and place the board in the work area. Fewer surprises at the dock.
Quality does not cost. It saves.
The rule since 1970. Every product page on this site is an argument for it.
The family of companies
Built here. Serviced everywhere.
A-fabco builds the shielding. Our affiliated company, Accelerator Door Corporation, keeps the doors running: repairs and maintenance for Brookfield and other manufacturers’ operators, emergency and routine, nationwide, with service contracts available.
