Interlocking.
Numbered. Stacked true.
Interlocking 4 by 12 lead brick for linear accelerator vaults and vault doors, from 1″ to multi-layer coursework beyond 2-1/2″, plus every sheet and plate thickness below it. Cut, fitted, and numbered in Gibsonton so it goes back together right on site.
- 4″ x 12″ interlocking
- 1″ and up
- Multi-layer to any spec
- Numbered for doors
When sheet stops and brick starts
Linear accelerator vaults and vault doors often require a significant thickness of lead. Generally, requirements up to and including 3/4″ (19.04 mm equivalency) are met with sheet lead. The switch to brick usually starts at 1″ (25.4 mm) or more, although in some cases 1″ sheet lead backed on plywood can be used. We will tell you which is the right way to reach the number, and which is the wrong way to pay for it.
Interlocking lead brick
A-fabco sells interlocking lead bricks that measure 4″ x 12″ and vary in weight with thickness. Requirements over 2-1/2″ are met by stacking multiple layers, one in front of the other. The brick is tied to the wall, and a steel vertical structure is built in front of the wall once the brick section is complete.

Brick inside a neutron door
Neutron swinging and sliding doors also carry lead, usually brick that is custom fit and cut before the door ships. Every brick is numbered after fitting, removed from the door, and stacked on pallets for shipment. The door is re-loaded after it is hung on the job site, in order, by number. No guessing on the day.
Sheet and plate
Below the brick threshold we supply every commercial thickness of sheet lead and lead plate, 99.9% pure to Fed. Spec. QQ-L-201F, Grade C. The full schedule with weights is on the resources page.
